The cabin was built long ago, but has been renovated and is very comfortable and special. There is a bedroom downstairs with a queen size bed. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with two double beds, and one with two twin beds.  Although the cabin can sleep lots of people, we do not encourage large groups.  We provide blankets and pillows, but ask you to bring your own bed linens and towels.  The beds are clean and comfortable and there is a bureau in each bedroom.

There is a deck overlooking the pond and a screen porch.  There is a wood stove, but we ask that you not use it as it is fussy and can fill the cabin with smoke if not used properly.

The Kitchen/Dining Area

There is no electricity at Cobb Pond, but we are able to use propane for the lights, cook stove, and refrigerator.  The refrigerator has a small freezer compartment.  There are lights in the kitchen and living areas, but you'll need to use flashlights or battery lanterns in the bedrooms and bathroom.

Lighting the cook stove and lights may take some getting used to since you have to use matches. It is safe so long as you don't let the gas build up before you light them (i.e. light match first, then turn on the gas). It's really no different from lighting a gas grill with a match (we do have a gas grill at the cabin).

There is no telephone, but cell phone reception is possible. The bathroom has a toilet and bath tub (no shower). We hope to finish installing a bathroom sink and vanity in summer 2007.  There is a hot water heater for baths and washing dishes.

The water has been clear and odorless, however,  YOU SHOULD NOT USE THE WATER FOR DRINKING OR COOKING.  We have not had the water tested for potability and must assume it would not pass drinking water standards.  Please plan to bring in your drinking and cooking water.  We buy it at the local grocery store. You may also have to limit and space out your water use to reduce the chance of running out of water. For example, allowing several hours between baths allows the spring to re-fill.
